Allah said:

And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, “Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority.” They said, “Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?” Allah said, “Indeed, I know that which you do not know.”

– Surah al Baqarah

You’re the authority Allah has placed on this Earth out of His favour and Mercy.

Don’t excuse yourself away from the recitation and memorisation of Quran no matter what happens.

Allah also said four times in the Quran:

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ – 54:17

And We have certainly made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

Surah al Baqarah -Part 4

49-50-51-52-53 Allah reminds the children of Israel of His numerous favours upon them where He rescued them from Pharaoh and his evil supporters who murdered their children and taken their women in bondage, and it was a big test from their Lord upon them.

And Allah reminds them of the time when He split the sea for them, and rescued them while drowning Pharaoh and his army.

And Allah reminds them of the time when He gave the commandments to Musa عليه السلام while his nation took up the worshipping of a calf behind his back, and fell into a grave sin. Allah forgave their sin so that they may be thankful.

Allah has given Musa عليه السلام the commandments so that they people may find guidance and truth therein.

54-55-56 Musa عليه السلام reproached his nation for worshipping the calf and told them the punishment for their sinning would be that the righteous among them slay the wrongdoers. Thereafter, Allah pardoned them so that they may turn to Him in thankfulness.

And when a group among Children of Israel said that they won’t believe in Musa عليه السلام unless they see Allah with their own eyes, a thunderbolt struck them killing them on spot.

Thereafter, Allah brought them back to life so that they may be grateful.

57-58-59 Allah reminds them that He shaded them with clouds in the desert, and sent for them the manna and quail to enjoy as the wholesome provisions from Paradise. Yet, it wasn’t Allah who wronged them but they wronged themselves all the while.

And Allah reminds them of the time when He commanded them to enter the blessed land and enjoy its provisions, and they were commanded to enter it while bowing in humility and seeking forgiveness from your Lord whence-forth He’d forgive them.

Yet, the wrongdoers substituted the heavenly command of their Lord and Allah punished them by sending a plague upon them for their deeds of ungodliness.

Surah al-Baqarah – Part 3

31-32 Allah taught Adam عليه السلام the names of everything and challenged the angels to inform Him of the names of those things.

The angels exalted their Lord and denied the knowledge of everything except that which Allah had previously taught them out of His knowledge and Wisdom

33-34 Allah then ordered Adam عليه السلام to inform the angels of the names of everything and he did so, and Allah retraced His conversation with the angels to the matters they discussed openly and in secret.

Then, He commanded the angels to prostate to Adam عليه السلامand they all did except Iblīs, and he turned away from the command of His Lord out of arrogance and became a disbeliever.

35-36 Adam عليه السلام was commanded to live in peace and security alongside his wife in Jannah, and was given the liberty to enjoy all the provisions therein except for a certain tree.

Iblīs misguided Adam عليه السلام and his wife, so they ate from the forbidden tree and were exiled from Jannah, for a limited period of time, turning into enemies of one another, the humans and Shaitan.

37- Adam عليه السلام was taught by His Lord the words to seek forgiveness and he sought forgiveness, so His Lord forgave him.

38-39 They all were exiled from Jannah and were informed that the guidance will be sent for them in the world, so whoever follows the guidance will have nothing to fear and won’t be distressed in the next time.

As for the ones who disbelieve and belie, they’ll be among the companions of hell-fire, for an eternity.

40- Children of Israel (Jacob/Yaqoub عليه السلام) are reminded of the favours of their Lord upon them, and reminded to fulfil their covenants with their Lord.

They’re commanded to only fear Him; their Creator.

41-42-43 They’re also commanded to believe in all that their Lord has sent down and forbidden from disbelieving.

Children of Israel are forbidden from changing the verses revealed unto them for a cheaper worldly gain, and are commanded to fear their Lord.

They’re yet again forbidden from mixing the truth with falsehood and forbidden from hiding the truth about the Final Messenger ﷺ while they know of him and his signs in their Book.

44- Children of Israel are commanded to establish the prayers with the followers of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and to pay the charity due.

45-46 The prayer indeed is heavy on the souls and bodies except for those who truly fear their Lord, so the command is to seek help through patience and prayer.

The fearful ones are those who have full certainty of a meeting with their Lord and know that they’ll return to Him.

47- Children of Yaqoub عليه السلام are commanded to remember the favours of their Lord upon them, and that they were blessed and chosen above other people.

48- Another reminder of the Final Day when nothing will guard a soul from its horrors, and no intercession nor any compensation will be accepted from anyone.

Benefits of reciting the Quran

Benefits of reciting the Qur’an:

1-You will be from the best of the people.

Uthmaan رضي الله عنه said that Prophet ﷺ

said: “The best of you are the ones who learn the Qur’an and teach it to others” [Al-Bukhari]

2-There are ten rewards for each letter you recite from the Qur’an.

“Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah, he will have a reward. And that reward will be multiplied by ten. I am not saying that “Alif, Laam, Meem” is a letter, rather I am saying that “Alif” is a letter, “laam” is a letter and “meem” is a letter.” [at-Tirmidhi]

So increase your recitation of the Qur’an to gain these merits, and to gain the following merit as well.

3- The reciters of the Qur’an will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels.

Aisha رضي الله عنها relates that The Prophet ﷺ said: “Verily the one who recites the Qur’an beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses, then he will have TWICE that reward.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Do not let the Shaytaan make you lose hope, or plant the excuses in your mind such as “I am not an ‘Arab,” or “Its not my language.” This hadith is a firm proof against these whisperings.

Dedicate yourself to the Book of Allah whether you are an Arab or not! The excuses have been eliminated and the pathway has been cleared for you to embrace the Book of Allah without holding back or offering excuses.

4-Your position in Paradise is determined by the amount of Qur’an you memorize in this life!

‘Abdullaah ibn ‘Amr ibn Al-’Aas رضي الله عنه heard The Prophet ﷺ saying: “It will be said to the companion of the Qur’an: Read and elevate (through the levels of the Paradise) and beautify your voice as you used to do when you were in the dunyaa! For verily, your position in the Paradise will be at the last verse you recite!” [Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi]

5- The Qur’an will lead you to Paradise!

The Prophet ﷺ said: “The Qur’an is an intercessor, something given permission to intercede, and it is rightfully believed in. Whoever puts it in front of him, it will lead him to Paradise; whoever puts it behind him, it will steer him to the Hellfire.” [At Tabarani]

Surah al-Baqarah – Part 2

17-18 Allah strikes the parables of fire and water to describe the state of these hypocrites. As for the fire, it’ll illuminate the surroundings and in an instant Allah would take away their light, leaving them in the darkness.

Such people are deaf, mute and blind to the commands of their Lord and they’ll not find a way back to Him.

19- As for the parable of water, it is as if a rainstorm would nearly drown them and the lightening and thunderclaps would increase their dread of death; Allah knows how to surround the disbelievers from all sides.

20- The lightening is such that it almost took away their eyesight, they can only muster the strength to walk when they see the light and as soon as the darkness strikes, they stop in their tracks out of fear. Had Allah willed, He’d have taken away their hearing and eyesight since He is capable of doing all things.

21-22 Mankind has been commanded to worship its Lord, the One who created them, and was present before their creation. Thinking about these signs will increase the fear of their Lord in their hearts.

The Lord of the mankind is the One who created the Earth and spread it out, and created the Sky as a ceiling, and sent down water from the sky so that the earth sends forth its fruits as provisions for them. All Allah wants in return is that we do not associate partners with Him.

23- And if you are in a doubt with regards to what was sent down on Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the Servant of Allah, then you can clear your doubts by trying to produce a chapter similar to the one found in this Quran, and you can also call upon your witnesses besides Allah to support you in this if you’re truthful.

24- However, if you don’t do it, and never will you be able to do it, then fear the fire that will be fuelled by humans and stones, prepared especially for the disbelievers.

25- Give glad tidings to the ones who believed and did good deeds of Paradise with rivers flowing beneath the gardens, the provisions of paradise would remind the believers of that which they used to enjoy in their worldly life, the likeness will be found in their shapes and delights, and their spouses will be purified for them to live with them for an eternity.

26- Allah does not shy away from striking example of a mosquito or anything that’s above it; as for the ones who believed in their Lord will know the truth is from Him, and as for the ones who’ve disbelieved, they’ll question what Allah intended to prove with this example. By striking examples, Allah misleads and guides many people, but only the defiantly disobedient people are misguided by these examples.

27- The defiantly disobedient are the ones who break their covenant with their Lord after contracting it, and severe all that their Lord has commanded them to join while causing corruption in the land- they’ll indeed be among the losers.

28-29 How can you disbelief in your Lord when He gave you life after death, and when He will make you die and raise you again, and when you’ll ultimately return to Him?

He is indeed your Lord, who has created all that is on this Earth for you to make use of, and directed Himself to Heaven and fashioned them into seven heavens, and is familiar and has the knowledge of everything.

30- When Allah gathers the angels and tells them that He’ll place His vicegerent on Earth, the angels discuss if that decision of their Lord would cause corruption on Earth while they glorify an exalt Him in the heavens? Allah tells them that He has a bigger plan for things since He has knowledge of things they do not know of.

Surah al-Baqarah – Part 1

FDA2D824-FFE9-4D8D-BF36-AC248CBC19811- Allah starts the chapter in this Final Revelation with letters only He knows the meaning of.

2-3 This Book is a doubtless guidance for all those who truly fear their Lord, and believe in the Unseen while performing their obligatory prayers and helping the poor and the needy.

4- These people also believe in the Final Revelation and all that was revealed previously by their Lord. The belief incorporates the afterlife hence the believers plan for the future and live their lives accordingly.

5- The belief and actions of people will determine their end in the next life, and only the true believers will succeed in attaining the pleasure of their Lord.

6-7 The ones who disbelieved, on the other hand, will not benefit from the revelation or the reminders. Allah has sealed their hearts so neither do they comprehend the message nor do they understand the wisdom behind it. For these people, the punishment in the next life will be great.

8-9 Another category of people tries to trick the believers by professing belief in Allah and the afterlife when in reality they are not believers.
These people are only deluding themselves and wasting their time and their efforts shall all be in vain.

10- The reason for their hypocrisy is the sickness of their hearts rooted in lies which will lead to their punishment in the next life.

11-12 These hypocrites will claim they’re peacemakers in the land while they’d be among those causing corruption; they do not truly comprehend the extent of their corruption nor can they tell how misguided their actions are.

13- When they’re commanded to follow the Messenger ﷺ and profess belief like his companions رضي الله عنهم, the hypocrites make fun of the believers, when in reality, the hypocrites are the ones scorned and lack the ability to comprehend and profess true faith.

14-15-16 The hypocrites who profess belief in the company of the believers and mock them behind their backs shall be recompensed by Allah in a similar manner. They have in reality sold their afterlife for this worldly life by replacing belief with disbelief, so their punishment befits their crime.
