It was named العنكبوت based on the verse found within the Surah which strikes a parable about the polytheists who worship idols because they’ve put their trust in something as weak as the web of the spider.

It was revealed in Makkah and has 60 verses.

The name of this Surah was taken from the second verse which talks about the Romans being defeated by the Persians, and the chapter goes on to predict their victory in the future.

Themes of this Surah:

This Surah talks about the fundamentals of belief, attributes of Allah, belief in the Message, resurrection and the Day of Judgment.
